Connecting Service

If you are a new member moving into an existing service please contact our office as soon as possible.  Services will be connected the following business day once all the necessary information is received in our office.

Deposit Requirements:  A security deposit for a residential service is required prior to electric service connection.  The deposit is based on the highest bill at that location for the past 12 month period.  Deposits can be paid by cash, check, or credit card.

In lieu of a deposit: Southern Iowa Electric will accept a letter of credit from your previous electric company providing it shows the past 12 months of history with no more than 2 late payments.

Information Required for Electric Service:
Address of Service Location
Date Taking Possession
Copy of Driver’s License
Deposit or Letter of Credit
Complete and Submit Membership Record & Application

Reconnects:  A reconnect fee of $75.00 will be charged if connecting a service that has previously been in your name.

Inspection Permits:  If a service has been disconnected for 6 months or longer, it is required to pass an electrical inspection by a State of Iowa electrical inspector.

Bank Draft--Automatic deduction from your checking or savings account on the 15th or  20th of each month is available.  This service is offered at no extra charge.
